Situation
After the S/4HANA implementation the number of custom developments started growing again. Every release upgrade took months because interfaces and extensions were undocumented.
Role and approach
Together with the internal architecture team we created a target architecture, clean-core guidelines with a decision tree, and an architecture board that decides on new requirements within a week.
Outcome
62 point-to-point interfaces were replaced by a central integration platform. The following release upgrade took six weeks instead of five months.
